Test your site in ten minutes

You already have everything you need: a keyboard, a phone and a few minutes.

1. The keyboard test (3 minutes)

Open your home page on a computer, click in the address bar, then press Tab repeatedly.

  • Can you always see where you are? There should be a clear outline around each link or button.
  • Can you reach the menu, the phone number and the contact form, and use them with Enter and Space?
  • Do you ever get stuck in a pop-up or map?

2. The screen reader test (4 minutes)

On iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver (or ask Siri to "turn on VoiceOver"). On Android: Settings → Accessibility → TalkBack. Swipe right to move through your page.

  • Do images say something meaningful, or just "image"?
  • Do buttons say what they do?
  • Does your contact form announce each field's name?

Tip: practice turning it off first (triple-click the side button on most iPhones if you set the Accessibility Shortcut).

3. The zoom test (2 minutes)

  • On your phone, pinch to zoom. If it won't zoom, your site is blocking it.
  • On a computer, zoom the browser to 200%. Text should reflow without needing to scroll sideways.

4. The squint test (1 minute)

Step back from the screen and squint. Any text that disappears probably has too little contrast.

Then run the free scan to catch what a quick look misses.
